Did you know you can use rock glue on your pea gravel so it doesn’t move? I was so tired of the constant battle keeping the pathway clear of loose pea gravel, dirt and debris. Every time I went to spray down the flagstone the pea gravel would go with it. Once I saw this genius product cross my feed I had to give it a try!
I want to mention this gravel glue is non-toxic and eco-conscious with no harmful chemicals. It’s safe for animals, plants and the environment. It is also water permeable, weatherproof and designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions.
The Before

The first step was removing any weeds and re-leveling some of the flagstones that were sunken in or shifted over the years. I then made sure the pathway was clear of any dust and debris. I used a leaf blower to get rid of any pine needles or plant matter, and then hosed everything down. Once dry, I was able to start filling in the cracks with the new pea gravel.

After filling in the crushed granite pea gravel I hosed everything down again to remove all the rock dust. Now that all the prep was done I was able to start mixing up my glue and apply to the pea gravel. I poured about 1/4 gallon of the rock & gravel glue and water (1:1 ratio) directly in my garden pump sprayer, gave it a little shake to mix it all up and it was ready to apply.

I tried avoiding getting any glue on the flagstones so I carefully sprayed in between all the cracks, dabbing away any unwanted glue spots with a wet rag. I didn’t add a lot of pressure in my garden pump sprayer, so it was more of a drizzle than a wide spray which helped me better control the glue application.

Once I made my way through all the cracks in the pathway I let the glue cure for 24 hours before applying a second coat. I ended up applying a total of 3 coats, which may have been totally unnecessary but I didn’t want to miss any little pieces and to ensure these gravel bits weren’t going anywhere.

I’m so impressed with how well this glue worked on my pathway! Other than a loose pebble here and there that I missed, this stuff really held up to its promise. No more messy pathway and I can spray the flagstone down with the hose without any gravel pieces going with it.
